H.R.3459

Empty Lots to Housing Act

Introduced·5/15/25

Authorizes transfer of real property acquired with federal assistance to entities for transit-oriented housing development.

The Empty Lots to Housing Act allows the transfer of real property acquired with federal assistance to local governmental authorities, nonprofit organizations, or third-party entities for the development of transit-oriented housing. The Secretary of Transportation must determine that the transfer benefits the government more than selling the property and that the third-party entity has a satisfactory history of affordable housing development.
