The Chip Security Act requires the Secretary of Commerce to issue standards for chip security mechanisms for integrated circuit products. It mandates that these products be outfitted with primary chip security mechanisms, including location verification, before export, reexport, or in-country transfer. The Act also requires secondary chip security mechanisms to be developed and implemented if deemed appropriate. The Secretary must submit a report to Congress on the assessment of these mechanisms and their effectiveness in preventing unauthorized use, access, or exploitation.
