The Smoke Exposure Research Act of 2025 mandates the Agricultural Research Service to conduct research on wildfire smoke's effects on wine grapes. This includes identifying compounds responsible for smoke exposure, establishing standard methodologies for testing, creating a database of natural smoke exposure compounds, and developing risk assessment tools or mitigation methods. The research will be conducted in coordination with land-grant colleges and universities in California, Oregon, and Washington. Funding of $6,500,000 is authorized annually for fiscal years 2026 through 2030.
