Know Your Rates Act requires electric and gas utilities to provide consumers with detailed consumption information.

The Know Your Rates Act amends the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 to mandate that electric and gas utilities provide consumers with specific consumption data. Electric utilities must include the difference in billing amounts and average monthly consumption in kilowatt hours on each bill. Gas utilities must include the difference in billing amounts and average monthly consumption in therms. Utilities must also notify consumers if their average daily consumption exceeds the previous billing period's average.
