The bill amends the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act to mandate that project sponsors offering emergency shelter, transitional housing, or permanent housing must provide substance use disorder treatment to admitted individuals. This treatment must be evidence-based, delivered by a licensed provider, and include medically supervised withdrawal management, residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, recovery housing with clinical support, or step-down treatment. An exception is made for unaccompanied minors.
