The No Homeless Detention Centers Act prohibits entities receiving federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development from compelling homeless persons to reside in facilities designated for housing homeless persons. It also prohibits these entities from compelling homeless persons to provide labor in order to reside in such facilities, or from threatening or imposing punishment on homeless persons for engaging in life-sustaining activities on public property. The act defines "homeless person" and "life-sustaining activities" and includes examples of public property.
