Mr. Sessions submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committees on the Judiciary, Armed Services, Transportation and Infrastructure, Veterans' Affairs, Homeland Security, and Intelligence (Permanent Select), for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Recognizing the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, honoring the memory of the victims, recognizing the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who answered the call to serve, acknowledging the charitable organizations that continue to support survivors and victims’ families, and reaffirming the enduring commitment of the United States to defend freedom and never forget.

  1. (1) recognizes the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001;
  2. (2) honors the memory of the 2,977 innocent victims who lost their lives in New York, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania;
  3. (3) expresses its deepest gratitude to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, members of the Armed Forces, intelligence professionals, volunteers, and all those who courageously responded to the attacks and their aftermath;
  4. (4) honors the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 for their extraordinary heroism and selfless sacrifice;
  5. (5) recognizes the service and sacrifice of the members of the United States Armed Forces, veterans, Gold Star families, and all those who defended the Nation in the years following September 11, 2001;
  6. (6) recognizes the invaluable work of charitable organizations, nonprofit foundations, and community groups that continue to care for survivors, first responders, veterans, and the families of the victims while preserving the memory of those lost;
  7. (7) encourages all Americans to observe the 25th anniversary of September 11 through remembrance, acts of service, moments of reflection, and renewed appreciation for the blessings of liberty and the sacrifices made to preserve it; and
  8. (8) reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the United States to defend the Nation against terrorism, uphold the principles of freedom and democracy, and ensure that the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001, are never forgotten.
