The CONTAINER Act, or Creating Obstructions Necessary To Address Illegal and Nefarious Entry Rapidly Act, authorizes states bordering the U.S. northern or southern international borders to place movable, temporary structures on federal land for border security. Border states must notify the relevant Secretary 45 days before placement. The initial placement period is one year, extendable in 90-day increments if operational control has not been achieved.
