Transitions Puerto Rico to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The Puerto Rico Nutrition Assistance Fairness Act amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to transition Puerto Rico from a consolidated block grant to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Secretary of Agriculture must approve Puerto Rico's plan of operation within 180 days of submission. If approved, the Secretary must certify Puerto Rico's eligibility to participate in SNAP. The bill also requires the Secretary to submit an annual report to Congress on the operation of the plan.
