Prohibits the importation of certain sloth species, with exceptions for research and dead sloths.
The Stopping Legalized Organized Trafficking and Harm to Sloths Act of 2026, or SLOTHS Act of 2026, makes it unlawful to import any individual of a covered sloth species, defined as species of the suborder Folivora. Exceptions are made for the importation of dead sloths for research purposes, provided documentation is submitted to the Secretary of the Interior. Violations carry criminal and civil penalties, including fines up to $100,000 and $20,000 respectively, and the cancellation of federal licenses related to fish, wildlife, or plants.
