Connecticut SB00497 creates a supplemental nutrition assistance transitional benefit account to provide benefits for up to twelve months to vulnerable persons affected by federal work requirement changes. The bill also establishes a food as medicine waiver program for Medicaid beneficiaries with chronic health conditions, and increases rates for Meals on Wheels providers. The Department of Social Services will stagger the distribution of benefits to cohorts of beneficiaries each month, and may increase the fee schedule based on an increase in the cost of services.
