SB00334

Connecticut SB00334 establishes fair rent commissions in municipalities and regions to study and investigate rental issues.

Connecticut SB00334 mandates that municipalities with populations of 15,000 or more create fair rent commissions. These commissions will study and investigate rental issues, conduct hearings, and receive complaints. Municipalities can also establish joint or regional commissions. These commissions must consist of equal parts landlords and tenants. The bill requires these commissions to be publicly accessible and mandates that any bylaws they adopt be published online. The bill also specifies that these commissions cannot be held liable for certain acts or omissions.
