SB00311

Connecticut SB00311 amends school suspension rules and establishes a Disconnected Youth Investment Grant program.

Connecticut SB00311 modifies school suspension rules, limiting out-of-school suspensions for preschool to second-grade students to cases involving physical harm, violent behavior, sexual misconduct, or weapon possession. It mandates trauma-informed services for these students. The bill also restricts the maximum number of suspensions to 45 days per school year or ten times, whichever is fewer. Additionally, it establishes a Disconnected Youth Investment Grant program to fund community-based organizations providing pathways to education and employment for disconnected youth.
