SB00286

Connecticut SB00286 increases financial assistance for grandparents and other nonparent relatives raising certain children.

Connecticut SB00286 modifies the state-administered general assistance program to increase financial assistance for families where a grandparent or other nonparent relative is the legal guardian of a child. The bill allows for the administrative transfer of eligible families to the temporary family assistance program, bypassing usual eligibility and enrollment procedures. If these families become ineligible under federal law, they will be transferred back to the cash assistance portion of the state-administered general assistance program.
