HB05309

Connecticut HB05309 mandates parental notification for minors seeking abortion services, with exceptions for abuse and medical emergencies.

Connecticut HB05309 requires physicians or counselors to provide pregnancy information and counseling to pregnant, unemancipated minors before performing an abortion. Notice must be given to at least one parent or legal guardian at least 48 hours prior to the procedure, unless the minor is a victim of abuse or a medical emergency exists. The bill allows minors to petition a court for a waiver of the notice requirements if they are victims of abuse or if notifying a parent is not in their best interest.
