Connecticut HB05284, effective October 1, 2026, permits municipalities to reduce property taxes for first-time homebuyers who purchased their homes with funds from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority. The abatement can be up to $500 per year for up to five years. The property must be the buyer's principal residence and must be mortgaged by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority.
