HB05218

Connecticut HB05218 modifies teacher contract termination and nonrenewal procedures.

Connecticut HB05218 revises the procedures for terminating and not renewing teacher contracts. It repeals existing subsections and introduces new provisions. For teachers without tenure, contracts can be terminated for reasons such as inefficiency, incompetence, or ineffectiveness. Teachers with tenure can only have their contracts terminated for specific reasons and must receive written notice and a hearing. The bill also outlines the process for hearings, including the right to counsel and the sharing of costs.
