Connecticut HB05214 mandates that eligible school districts offer free school breakfasts to all students and free school lunches to those eligible for free or reduced-priced meals. Effective July 1, 2026, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, eligible school districts must provide these meals at no charge. An "eligible school district" is defined as a local or regional board of education, state or local charter school, or interdistrict magnet school operator participating in the federal School Breakfast Program or National Lunch Program, but not implementing the Community Eligibility.
