Wyoming HB0187 amends theft penalties, increasing fines and imprisonment terms for certain theft offenses.

Wyoming HB0187 modifies the penalties for theft and related offenses. It raises the fine for theft of property valued at $500 or more, or involving specific animals, to a maximum of $10,000. For a fifth or subsequent theft offense, the maximum fine increases to $10,000, and imprisonment can last up to ten years. The bill also increases the penalty for using theft detection shielding devices to a maximum of one year in prison and a $1,500 fine. The changes take effect on July 1, 2025.
