West Virginia SJR20 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to change the approval process for excess levies or increases in maximum rates. Currently, all other levies and increases require at least sixty percent of the qualified voters to favor the increase. This resolution would allow a majority of the votes cast, being fifty percent plus one vote, to approve excess levies or increases in maximum rates limited exclusively to fire protection and emergency medical services.
