Allows certain hospital staff members to withdraw from retirement benefits before age 60 or 62.
West Virginia SB997 allows specific staff members at Hopemont Hospital, Jackie Withrow Hospital, John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center, and Lakin State Hospital to begin drawing their retirement benefits before the usual retirement age. This applies to staff members who were over 55 years old as of October 21, 2025, and who have not yet reached the age of 60 if in Tier 1, or 62 if in another tier, of the Public Employees Retirement System. This change does not affect other retirement provisions.
