The bill creates the Governor's Safe Library Books for Kids Committee within the Department of Tourism. The committee will review and rate books in the children's and teens' sections of public libraries based on age appropriateness. The committee will start with the youngest readers and work up to teen-level books. Books will be placed in the appropriate section after rating. The committee will meet annually and whenever necessary. Violations of the rating system will result in a misdemeanor charge and a minimum fine of $500 per occurrence.
