West Virginia SB936 provides eligibility for West Virginia certified thoroughbreds to race in restricted races and adjusts purse calculations.

West Virginia SB936 amends the state's horse racing regulations to provide eligibility for West Virginia certified thoroughbreds to race in restricted races. Effective July 1, 2026, these horses can participate in restricted races for additional purse percentages. The bill also adjusts the calculation of purses for accredited breeders, sire owners, and thoroughbred race horse owners. It specifies that bonuses are only paid on the first $100,000 of any purse and not on any amounts in excess of the first $100,000.
