The bill sets a base per day, per inmate rate at $54.48 and adjusts this rate annually. Counties are responsible for 80% of the current per diem rate for the first 80% of their pro rata share of total billed inmate days, and 100% for the remaining 20%. Counties are not responsible for costs of housing and maintaining felony convicted inmate populations.
