West Virginia SB77 introduces a policy surcharge on fire and casualty insurance policies to generate revenue for volunteer and part-volunteer fire departments. The surcharge is set at one percent of the taxable premium for each policy. The collected funds are to be distributed among the Fire Protection Fund, the Fire Service Equipment and Training Fund, and the Fire Service Recruitment and Retention Fund.
