West Virginia SB737 allows county boards of education to hire or accept certified chaplains as volunteers to provide support, services, and programs for students, staff, and parents. The chaplains must meet certification and licensing requirements and undergo background checks. The bill limits the liability of chaplains for actions taken in good faith, except for malicious, willful, and deliberate harm. County school boards can employ or accept more than one chaplain per school.
