Home confinement officers can participate in the Emergency Medical Services Retirement System.

West Virginia SB724 allows home confinement officers to participate in the Emergency Medical Services Retirement System. It removes the requirement for these officers to be certified as law enforcement officers. Officers hired after July 1, 2025, must be members of this system. Those already employed can elect to transfer from the Public Employees Retirement System. The Consolidated Public Retirement Board must transfer assets by March 31, 2026. Retirement for transferring officers can start from April 1, 2026.
