West Virginia SB640 amends the Code of West Virginia to prohibit the release of certain personal information of contributors to political elections. Specifically, it bans the disclosure of the street number and street name in the residence and mailing address of any individual who makes a contribution, or who makes or cosigns a loan, as well as the major business affiliation, employer, and/or business of such individual. The bill also provides a misdemeanor criminal penalty for violations, including a fine of up to $1,000 or imprisonment for up to one year.
