Introduced·1/20/26
Intr Text

Expands circumstances for the Department of Human Services to seek termination of parental rights.

This bill amends the Code of West Virginia to increase the circumstances under which the Department of Human Services must seek termination of parental rights. It also limits the total duration of improvement periods for parents while a child remains in out-of-home placement. The bill specifies conditions under which improvement periods can be granted, extended, or terminated, and outlines the responsibilities of both the respondent and the department during these periods.
