Intr Text

Requires sheriffs to notify owners and occupants of real property before selling it for unpaid taxes.

West Virginia SB52 mandates that sheriffs notify owners of record and residents or occupants of real property before selling it for unpaid taxes. The sheriff must send notices to the last known address of each person listed in the land books whose taxes are delinquent, to each person having a lien on the property, and to each owner of record or resident or occupant of the property. The bill also includes provisions for the sheriff to publish a list of delinquent lands and notice of sale in a legal advertisement.
