The bill amends the West Virginia Code to add the definition of "master aesthetician" for the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. A master aesthetician is a person licensed under the provisions of this article who engages in the practice of aesthetics and has completed 900 clock hours of training. They are authorized to practice using laser technology, intense pulsed light ("IPL") devices, microneedling, and radiofrequency treatments. This definition is added to clarify the roles and qualifications of professionals within the cosmetology and aesthetics fields in West Virginia.
