West Virginia SB247 modifies responsibility for reimbursing training costs of law-enforcement employees who leave their original jurisdiction for.
West Virginia SB247 amends the law to change who is responsible for reimbursing training costs for law-enforcement employees. If an employee leaves their original jurisdiction for another law-enforcement agency within the state, the new jurisdiction must reimburse the original employer for wages, salaries, benefits, tuition, and expenses. The reimbursement is to be paid pro rata over two years. The bill also allows employers to require employees to sign an agreement to repay the employer if they leave within one year of completing their training.
