Updating retirement eligibility for certain sheriffs in West Virginia.
West Virginia SB206 amends the Virginia Public Employees Retirement Act to allow sheriffs who are members of the public retirement system to retire at age 62 with eight or more years of service. This change applies to sheriffs elected after July 1, 2015, and those who are not participating in another retirement system. The bill specifies that all years of service must be actual, contributing years. Upon retirement, the member will receive an annuity as provided in Section: 5-10-22 of the code.
