SB1013

Allowing certain municipal plan participants to use accrued leave toward credited service upon retirement

Introduced·2/19/26
Intr Text

Allows municipal police and firefighters to use accrued leave toward credited service upon retirement.

This bill allows municipal police and firefighters participating in municipal plans overseen by the Municipal Pensions Oversight Board to use accrued leave toward credited service upon retirement. Accrued leave days are applied on the basis of one day’s credit granted for each one day of accrued annual or sick leave days, with each month of retirement service credit to equal 20 days. The credited service is not considered to controvert the requirement of no more than 20 years of service and the additional percent credit authorized.
