Constitutional amendment to elect the state superintendent of schools in West Virginia

West Virginia HJR25 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to change the election process for the state superintendent of schools. Currently, the superintendent is appointed by the West Virginia board of education. The amendment would require the superintendent to be elected by the people in the general election every four years. The superintendent would serve at the will of the voters and would be the chief school officer of the state, with powers and duties prescribed by law. The amendment would also make the superintendent a member of the board of public works.
