HB5569

To reinstate the discount on insurance for retired firefighters hired after 2010

Introduced·2/16/26
Intr Text

Reinstates the discount on Public Employees Insurance for retired firefighters hired after 2010.

This bill amends the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Act to reinstate the premium rate for retired firefighters hired after 2010. The finance board is tasked with reinstating the discount and may allocate a portion of the premium costs to subsidize the cost of coverage for participating retired employees. The finance board must prepare an annual financial plan to meet the agency's estimated total financial requirements, taking into account all projected revenues and apportioning necessary costs equitably among participating employers, employees, and retired employees.
