West Virginia HB4879 updates state code to establish and regulate the West Virginia State Guard.

West Virginia HB4879 revises and updates provisions of state code to establish the West Virginia State Guard. The Governor is authorized to organize and maintain the State Guard to defend the state, respond to crises, and maintain order during civil disturbances. The State Guard will be composed of volunteers, including military veterans and law enforcement officers. Members will receive benefits similar to those of the West Virginia National Guard, including educational benefits, death benefits, and worker's compensation.
