HB4798

Permitting teachers to wear a “mobile alert button” for emergency situations, to be known as “Alyssa’s Law.”

Complete·3/14/26

Alyssa's Law mandates the implementation of a wearable panic alert system in all West Virginia schools.

Alyssa's Law requires the state board, in collaboration with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, to establish a wearable panic alert system in all schools. Each county board must provide staff with these devices, enabling immediate contact with emergency services. The system must integrate with local public safety infrastructure to transmit 9-1-1 calls and initiate campus-wide lockdowns. Training for school personnel on using these devices is also mandated.
