Establishes the Hope to Help Community Schools Act of 2026, allowing small schools to become Public Community Micro Schools.
The Hope to Help Community Schools Act of 2026 allows small public schools with fewer than 150 students to become Public Community Micro Schools (PCMS). Parents can form an ad hoc committee to discuss and vote on converting their school to a PCMS. Conversion requires a two-thirds affirmative vote from a quorum of parents. PCMS have direct participation in decision-making, including vetoing closure plans. The State Board of Education creates a special fund to segregate PCMS moneys for staffing and operational costs.
