Establishes a fund and program to improve traffic intersections impacted by high-impact retail operations.
The bill creates a special subaccount in the State Road Fund, called the Retail Impact Intersection Improvement Fund, to finance projects aimed at improving traffic intersections affected by high-impact retail operations. These operations include shopping malls, grocery stores, warehouses, and roadside shops. The Division of Highways will manage the fund and program, consulting with county commissions to identify priority projects. Projects will focus on adding turning lanes, traffic signals, signal timing adjustments, drop-off and pick-up areas, and sufficient parking.
