HB4390 provides a temporary subsidy increase for kinship parents equal to foster parents for up to six months.
HB4390 amends the Code of West Virginia to allow kinship parents to receive a temporary subsidy increase equal to that of foster parents for up to six months. This temporary increase is contingent on the kinship parent passing a background check and the kinship placement passing an initial home screening. If the kinship parent does not become certified as a foster parent within six months, the temporary increase will cease. The Department of Human Services will assist the kinship parent in obtaining certification and compliance with all other aspects of certification.
