Award military veterans with a “Veterans” license plate in West Virginia.
West Virginia HB4141 proposes to issue special registration plates to military veterans, active, retired, or honorably discharged personnel, and next of kin of those killed in combat. The bill exempts these individuals from vehicle registration fees, except for a $10 initial application fee. Gold Star spouses are also exempt from all registration fees for one Gold Star Family license plate. The Division of Motor Vehicles may issue these plates upon receipt of documentation and, in some cases, a guarantee of a minimum of 100 applicants.
