State registered apprenticeships in building and construction trades must provide behavioral health and wellness training.
Starting July 1, 2027, apprenticeship programs for building and construction trades in Washington must include behavioral health and wellness training. Apprentices must complete at least two hours of instruction covering destigmatizing behavioral health, recognizing signs of distress, suicide prevention, substance abuse disorder awareness, and peer support. This training is in addition to existing instruction hours and is required for any new or updated apprenticeship program standards.
