Washington SB6176 modifies the enforcement of vehicle registration renewals, establishing penalties for failure to renew expired registrations. For a first offense, a fine of $529 is imposed, which cannot be suspended or reduced. For a second or subsequent offense, the fine increases to $529, and up to 364 days in county jail may be imposed. Additionally, any delinquent taxes and fees must be paid and deposited into the vehicle licensing fraud account. Vehicles with expired registrations parked on public streets for over 45 days may be impounded.
