The bill modifies the maximum duration of paid family and medical leave in Washington to improve program solvency. It reduces the maximum duration of paid family leave from 12 to 8 times the typical workweek hours over a 52-week period. It also reduces the maximum duration of paid medical leave from 12 to 8 times the typical workweek hours over a 52-week period. The combined total of family and medical leave may be extended to 14 times the typical workweek hours if the employee experiences a serious health condition. The adjusted maximum weekly benefit amount takes effect on January 1, 2027.
