Allows certain school districts to be exempt from renewable energy system requirements.
This bill allows eligible school districts to be exempt from the requirement to include a renewable energy generation system in each new building or addition larger than 10,000 square feet of gross conditioned floor area. An eligible school district is defined as one with enrollments of 1,000 students or less and located in one or more of the counties listed as one climate zone. The exemption does not require the district to achieve additional efficiency package credits. The state building code council must amend the Washington state energy code by January 1, 2027, to implement this exemption.
