Suspends bonuses for certificated instructional staff certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for certain school years.
This bill amends the Washington State education code to suspend bonuses for certificated instructional staff who have attained certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for the 2025-26, 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29 school years. Previously, these staff members were eligible for additional bonuses if they were in an instructional assignment in a school that met the definition of a high-poverty school. The bonuses were to be paid in a lump sum and not included in salary calculations.
