The bill mandates that the Washington Health Care Authority provide coverage for all FDA-approved HIV antiviral drugs without prior authorization or step therapy for Apple Health clients in both fee-for-service and managed care programs. Managed health care systems must also cover these drugs without prior authorization or step therapy upon contract initiation or renewal. This act is deemed necessary for public health and safety and will take effect on July 1, 2025.
