The bill establishes a prescribed fire claims fund pilot program to support coverage for losses from prescribed fires and cultural burning by nonpublic entities. The Office of Risk Management will reimburse eligible claims for property or economic damage resulting from prescribed fires or cultural burns, up to $2,000,000 per claim. Claims for damages caused by criminal or negligent acts are not eligible. The fund aims to promote the use of prescribed and cultural burns to improve forest resiliency and address the forest health crisis in Washington. The program expires on June 30, 2033.
