Washington HB2482 amends the state's retirement system to allow retirees from Plan 2 to serve as chiefs of police in towns or cities with fewer than 50,000 people without losing their retirement benefits. Retirees have the choice to either reenter membership in Plan 2 or remain retirees, forego service credit, and continue receiving benefits without interruption. If benefits are suspended due to employment, they will be reinstated upon termination of the employment, with actuarial recomputation by the department. The department is also directed to adopt rules implementing these changes.
